"God gave us all gifts and talents, but it is what we do with them that is our gift to God." - author unknown
September 2009-End of Season Journal

Apologize to readers that this was not posted over a month ago, and almost done with October’s to post!

I begin this blog/site reminding everyone that God has a plan for your life and mine! In the midst of whatever you might be going through He is with you! The past month or so I read a book called Battlefield of the Mind by Joyce Meyer. It revealed to me how much wrong thinking we allow in to our heads. Overloaded with information and one that I’ll probably have to read back through or at least thumb through, but I highly recommend it b/c Joyce challenges us to ‘think about what we think about?’ I have always been pretty good about thinking before I speak, but to think about what I think…that is some deep stuff. As I read it was hard not apply it to baseball from time to time.

I have made a conscience decision to stay Positive in light of many circumstances I cannot control. During this time God has reminded me to TRUST Him, encourage others even when I don’t feel like it or am down myself, and to stay the course b/c He has a plan for my life! Isn’t it tough sometimes not being able to see the plan? My thinking and ‘my plan’ gets in the way, and I’m constantly reminded that God’s plan is Best!

Earlier this month I was back home playing in Atlanta! Love coming home and being with my family and friends, and did not know if I was going to play this series or not since I was moved to the bullpen. It was Sunday, our last game of the series when I came in during the ninth, tie game. Threw two scoreless innings and in the top of the eleventh experienced something I’ve seen a handful of times. I was struck in the head/helmet by a fastball. The pitch hit right around the hole in my helmet and I immediately hit the ground…grateful there was not much pain b/c everything went numb right away. I do not recall ever losing consciousness…just remember looking up at the blue sky and being thankful, while thinking of how terrified my mother (in the stands) must have been. So I gave a thumbs up, got stitched up in the club house, had to stay at home for a few days to be cleared to fly, and finally met the team Friday in Chicago! Only a few stitches and busted ear drum that will heal! Thanks everyone for the prayers and concern!

Also want to express gratitude to all of you that were interested and partook in my performance pledge! I’ve had a few questions concerning it…basically any thing whatsoever contributed will be greatly appreciated and put to a wonderful cause! Thought this might be a neat way to follow my career and support a Faith based non-profit program! On top of my sister’s efforts and God’s hand with them, we are planning on being a part of some neat things for upcoming holidays! Be back soon, praying for this site and those that cross it, and God bless! -MO

It is amazing that under any circumstance the grace of God will help you not only overcome triumph but rejoice in the situation. You set such a good example for younger players. You play with heart and respect for the game. You demonstrate what the game is truly about. I appreciate your attitude and your beautiful faith. Thanks for a great season and I look forward to the AZ for spring training!
Thanks

It is so true when you say that God has a plan for everyone. I have realized over the past few months, after a few hard decisions that sometimes you have to step back from your own mind, and listen to God, because if you listen, he will guide you to the right choose. Thank you, for saying, those first words of your blog meant a lot to me.
I hope you have a great off-season. I look forward to seeing you with the Red in spring training nest year.
